bow-of-boat

I took this one back in September while fishing on my brother’s 14-foot boat. There’s a nice reflection of the trees on the calm lake surface.

night owl

I shot this one through my apartment window just as dawn was breaking. The light in the window of the building next door suggests that I’m not the only night owl in the neighborhood.

The title for this post is a lyric from a Tom Waits song: Ruby’s Arms.

synagogue

The Sons of Jacob Congregation. This is North Bay, Ontario’s only synagogue, and one of the few in northern Ontario. It is a modest-looking building which serves the city’s very small Jewish population, less than 100. It was build around 1917 and was originally a grocery store.

You can read more about its history here:
Synagogue named heritage building.
