Summer Turns to Fall 3 comments
The photo on the left was taken in June. The one on the right was taken at the same spot in November. Location: the rear of the Provincial Court House Building, North Bay, Ontario.
Aside from the obvious seasonal changes that differentiate the two photos you may notice some other – unexpected – differences. For example, if you look at the home in the far distance it seems much larger in the photo on the right than it does in the photo on the left. Also, the trees seem slightly closer to the camera in the photo on the right than they do in the photo on the left.
These differences are explained by the fact that I made the mistake of shooting one photo in portrait mode and one in landscape mode. I then cropped the landscape mode photo to match the framing of the portrait mode photo.
This isn’t the proper way to construct a before-and-after shot of this kind. But we learn from our mistakes.

This is my first diptych. The two photos were taken by my friend Angelle Savard at a family BBQ, Summer 2009.
